Traditionally, sanitisers have been used to treat and control algae but this is proving to be much less reliable as algae species become more diverse and resistant. The use of algaecide greatly reduces your pool’s chlorine consumption.  Algae spores are always present, and when they become active they thrive on waste within water. To remove and prevent algae from your pool, you will always need to use an algaecide. It also guarantees the success of your chlorine and oxidiser as 100% of your chlorine is working to destroy harmful bacteria.

Some prefer to use a non-metallic-based algaecide so we introduced a metal-free winteriser algaecide.  It is a polymer-based product and ideal for vinyl pools.

For best results:

1. Adjust your pool water to between 7.0 and 7.6 (7.0 to 7.2 if algae is severe).
2. Brush walls and vacuum visible algae to waste (if required).
3. Add Chlorine as required or recommended
4. Add ALGON’S METAL FREE Winteriser as per dosage on the bottle and apply evenly around the edges of pool with filter running (not via skimmer). Wait 24 hours if pool has been superchlorinated before adding Metal Free Winteriser
5. Can be used in ponds at the same dosage. Do not use in ponds or water features with fish.
6. If algae persists drop the Ph of your pool water. (7.0 to 7.2)
7. Once clear of Algae we recommend for effective control of Algae to maintain your pH level at 7.3
